WARRANTS ALLEGE DISTURBING NEW DETAILS AFTER MAN STOLE RUNNING SUV WITH TODDLER INSIDE AS MOM MADE INSTACART DELIVERY 📍Atlanta, Georgia Police identified the suspect as Saleema A. Martin, 21. This all unfolded around 4:30 p.m. after the two-year-old’s mother told police she briefly left her vehicle running while dropping off an Instacart order on Spring Street in Midtown. Martin’s warrant shows the mother told police she was gone no more than four minutes. When she returned, the Lexus and her daughter were gone. Atlanta Police tracked the stolen vehicle to the Publix shopping center at Howell Mill Village which is at the intersection of Collier Road and Howell Mill Road APD said Martin was in the backseat with the little girl when officers approached the vehicle. She was also out her car seat. The officer said Martin had both hands on the two-year-old’s torso as he was “crouching down” between the car seat and passenger seat. The child’s mother noticed the bottom of her dress was unbuttoned. She asked her daughter why, and said her daughter stated, “the man did it.” Martin told investigators he saw the car running and jumped in as he was trying to get back to New Jersey. He admitted after jumping in, he noticed the child. He sai d he also noticed there was an IPad in the car and ditched it because he knew police could track the vehicle. Martin told police he pulled over off Collier Road because the little girl was crying. The warrant states he told police he was only touching her because he wanted to calm her down. He went on to say he was only hiding because he saw patrol cars in the area. Investigators specifically asked why he was in the backseat between the passenger seat and car seat and that’s when he told them he didn’t want to answer any more questions.
