This scale workout is no joke. 😅 This is a variation on one of my favourite practice concepts for Harmonic Minor and Harmonic Major. Rather than simply running the scale, each pattern finishes by outlining the target harmony with an arpeggio, while rhythmic placeholders keep the target chord tones landing on the downbeats throughout the exercise. This creates a continuous exercise that is challenging but very satisfying to play. A scale workout that develops rhythmic awareness paired with a stronger sense of harmonic function, all while sounding much more musical than simply practising scales!
