@neurobloomcoaching: Starting stimulant medication as an adult is a massive mind-shift. On one hand, you’ve finally got the keys to your own brain and you're actually getting things done. But on the other, the side effects, the hyperfocus "dead stare," the crash, the sudden emotional shift mean your family is getting a totally different version of you every day. It helps to translate that. 💛 #adhdlatediagnosis #adhdmeds #adhdtiktok #health #Vyvanse
Once i got medicated for my ADHD, my autistic traits showed a lot more, its been harder to mask

Switching from adderall to vyvanse actually helped take quite a few of these away! Especially the crash and my bluntness

the only thing I don't like is that it makes my autism more pronounced. it is very good for when I have to concentrate when I am teaching

My favorite (and my husband’s least favorite) is actually that my talking/explaining has become a bit slower, more pauses and more precise wording (bc my brain is trying to find a way to converse without over explaining or accidentally beating around the bush about a topic like in the past).

But then I get told I talk too much, so then I completely shut down and don’t say anything.

I’m considering meds for my adhd and honestly the more I read, the more I question if it’s worth it.

And all this, along with being autistic carries extreme guilt. Guilt that my person forever has to be patient, or give me space, give me time. And then self sabotage hits and it’s just cruel

For the crash, try increasing protein intake thru out the day and drinking lots of water. It definitely helps the withdrawal each day

I’m always extremely blunt and it looks like without emotion or it seems rude but I’m simply stating things without adding feelings and people hate that. I’m not trying to say “no offense/ no disrespect/ etc.” at this point if they’re offended that’s a them problem I’m tired of apologizing to people lol

the battery i can agree with, my brain always overworked itself as i have AuDD so i notice things a lot more on my meds due to my autism but they calm the distraction and needing processing of every detail of word and sound in the situation, which helps a lot but i still process a lot through the day and then at the end i just chill out as the meds start to slowly ween off and sometimes i pop a booster on top if i need to keep active but rarely.. however yeah the recharge is a whole different story xD

my talking at 100mpg is specifically the time period between my Dex starting to kick in and actually kicking in. for like 15-20 minutes I am bouncing between every which topic, oversharing and then it chills out to normal productiveness

Talking at 100mph can also be a sign of mania. Make sure you’re able to differentiate between the 2. If it’s coupled with excessive spending, feelings of grandiosity, etc. then you’re likely manic.

Unfortunately, there are people who wouldn’t like me being on this medication so I don’t even tell them my reasons for me being a certain way. I just have to try and fake it

But honestly all those side effects are t worth it. I just started Focalin a week ago after giving up on amp based meds. Ok so now I can do laundry or focus at work but at what cost? Not being able to tolerate my kids? I didn’t take it today bc being a good little robot is not a good feeling.
