Practice is the work, playing time is the reward. 100% on the put them in at 8/10/12u to get them playing time. 13u and up is where you start needing to earn the spot and playing time.

i coached tball to 13u baseball, slowpitch and fastpitch softall and boys and girls basketball. there is never a reason to have a bench sitter in youth sports. if there are kids riding the bench, the coach is doing it for thwir ego and is gailing as a coach

So many parents are fooled by coaches saying” it’s about practice not the games “. That’s biggest sign of a crappy coach ,, games are the fun and most important part kids need to play !!!!

Special leagues should be reserved for kids that are good enough to need higher competition. Otherwise there’s always local rec leagues that prioritize fun

lets be realistic most 8u travel ball teams are really just travel rec ball traveling to the same 3 fields playing the same teams they just played the previous weekend at a different field 30 minutes down the road
