Growing up my son's best friend was a widower who lived 2 houses down. When he died he left everything to us, his family was irate. I was a single mother and he wanted to ensure "the boy," as he called him, was taken care of. "The boy," now a grown man, lives in his house.

My sister lives on a block with about 20 children ages 10 and under. Their widowed neighbor mary got remarried at 80 years old the other day and the kids all threw her a bridal shower 🥹

When I was growing up my parents were either working like crazy or fighting nonstop so I would end up outside to get away from it. I had an old couple that lived to the right of us, a old woman who lived to the left of us, an old woman that lived across from us & another one that lived next to her. They all basically became my neighborhood grandparents. They taught me how to garden, bake, cook, & other stuff. They fed me & got me gifts on Christmas & my birthday. They came to school concerts & never missed a birthday party. Tina, Louie, Viola, Vinny & Mitsy there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think of you. Thank you for everything you taught me that I now get to teach my own kids 🥰

My dad was never around when I was a little girl. My newly married neighbour in his late 20’s had toddler kids that were too young so always asked me to play catch with him when I was 11. He taught me how to hit, pitch, catch… all of it. He helped me make our city rep team and later provincial team. I came from a very non-athletic family. He and his wife also came to my games when they could. I’m 40 now and will never forget that man’s kindness! He made my life so much better. So I fully support this!!! 😁

My dad is 77 and his new bestie is the 5 year old next door. He starts kindergarten this year so he might find a new friend but maybe my dad will get invited to grandparents days

my mum is the neighborhood gran.. I moved away many years before and was there on holidays cooking... a 6-7 yr kid walks in and happily says where's nanny and who are you... I said I'm nanny's son... he said ok.. can you make me a sammich☺️☺️☺️.... well ok then🤣🤣🤣

My little brothers autistic and once escaped and went over to our very sweet old Chinese lady next door she didn’t speak any English and my brother couldn’t speak at all they just sat at a table for like an hour until we found him
