My family has always joked that my Papaw is “a man of few words.” I didn’t find out until I was 20 years old that he secretly writes poetry. My Mamaw was the only person who knew for the majority of his life. My birthday cards always have always had a poem in them, and I just assumed they were by my Mamaw - she’s a huge reader. Turns out, Papaw would write them & have her rewrite them in her handwriting so nobody knew they were his words!

Study and observe him, find the things that makes him smile, lauph, or anything that you say uplifts his mood, study those things and find ways to make those things happen as you speak to him, learn to speak to him the right way instead of just waiting the day he does open up, put effort into it

this is how my brother is. hes gifted with high intellect but speaks few words. hes seen as scary and offputting by many people due to his height and demeanor but he just has very little interest in speaking. as his younger sister though, i pride myself on being able to annoy his words out of him :))

My dad was and still is a very quiet man but I remember spending evening on his laps looking at the stars and naming them he had answers to all my questions so I never truly understood why people said that he was quiet

Wife, daughter, nice home he’s doing better than most guys who never stop talking. He’s content with the life he made for himself and just there’s not to say my grandpa is very similar
