Yes, after 99yrs your land revert to the chiefs. however, u have a property on it, they have the land , u have the property, this is where the law comes in. the law allows that you go back to the chiefs with your documents and on advice from the lands commission, you will re negotiate and pay an agreed amount by the payment terms agreed upon in order to re own that land.
So I think the question was not dealt with properly, ppl are curious to know what they can do after the 99yrs , especially the young ones that inherit properties have to know this. no panic please. thank you.

I don't know why I am the only one seeing this as total nonsense. Our law makers have refused to amend this stupid law n have rather fortified it .

Please go and check the law it doesn’t work like that it reverted but you have pay half amount to take it back and the chief had no control over the land until the property owner decided not to pay it again

That's why you include renewal terms - price, years, start date - in the indenture. Additionally, you keep good relations with the family so that newly born children are not unfamiliar with you. When there is a new chief, he should be aware. In western deals the contract stands on it's on. In Ghana the indenture, the contract, the family, the land guards, the police station and the village all play an important role in how the renewal will go.
