I know a woman who had this, and she wasn’t into butt stuff. Doctor was pretty sure it happened because of shaving and a follicle got infected.

I'm a straight married woman and I've had 2 fistulas. never had a seton (kudos to you, the support group I'm in for this makes them seem pretty awful) but I have had 1 fistulectomy and 1 fistulotomy. they can't tell me why I got them either. just bad luck here, too 😭

Please take this from having had this exact experience… go to a GI dr and get screened/tested for crohns or U C. Bc I endorse nightmare on repeat for 2 years before someone diagnosed me.

As a nurse, we see tons of perianal abscesses. Mostly in men because they have more hair, sweat, etc

my mother had a peri-rectal abcess, surgery, came back a couple years later, surgery, and a 3rd time with surgery. She NEVER tried anal-anything. Mean people are real quick to make it a gay-thing.

My mom had this! Landed her in ICU for 4 days septic from the abscess caused lol the weirdest turn of events was my dad also had the same thing happen to him 9 years later so now we joke we have cursed a*ses in this family. Glad you’re all healed now !

I am sorry for the ignorance of some. It’s also proven that more men than women get them because of your anatomy. I saw your comment about being all clear and back to normal. I don’t know if they told you but you should be taking extra fiber daily to avoid having to strain at all. Also increase your water intake a lot!!! Just speaking from experience not a dr😉 I hope you never have to go through it again❤️

I believe you! Ingrown hair follicles, blocked glands or anything can lead to Anal Fistulas. I know two friends who had this and it is the worst possible pain in the ass ever. It just means you can't wear tight jeans or tightly whites in the near future. Keep that magic garden dry and clean queen!

I am a straight woman and exit only and I had one. They operated from the outside so I had a huge hole in my ass cheek that hurt like a mofo and surprisingly closed up but if the abscess came back they would have to do the surgery from the anus and gladly it didn’t come back but I asked the surgeon what causes it and he couldn’t answer me. It’s not from holding it or any sexual activity or anything else. Shit happens ;)
