I still can’t take naps as an adult because I too had an “uncle” who was left to discipline us and he physically harmed me and my sisters and would also force us to take afternoon naps…. I’ve regulated my nervous system but taking naps is still not easy for me thanks to him. Family will protect abusers to save “face”.. ugh

I’ll never forget one holiday I went to hug one of my favorite uncle and right in front of everybody he slap the shit out of me for no reason. It was so random. Like why?! I remember grabbing my face n looking around n no one reacted. Even tho I was like 9/10 I still defended myself. But everybody acted like I was over reacting. Still think about this very moment to this day.

My mom used to let her best friend tear me down every chance she got. Other adults too. I asked why she never protected me, she asked if I confronted a cousin she also failed to protect me from for abusing me as a child. I’m no contact with my whole family.

And when he said he was gonna choke you, he MEANT that! But for some reason he wasn’t able to get his hands on you. He KNEW you were intuitive and that you would TELL (and tell more than just the family). He saw your strength and he immediately felt that in order to humble you, he needed to inflict harm. My mother’s older friend that she considered a mother figure and wanted us to call a grandma, once gave me a “Bitch of the Year certificate.” I was 14 yrs old, met her that year and oppose to the idea because my real grandparents raised me. My mom laughed it off as a joke, it wasn’t funny and I stated that. Then one of her other friend let me know “ they fight kids” I don’t let it factor into my daily life but i knew early with more incidents prior to these; that I was not protected anywhere except in the home I’ve built as an adult.
