I refused to have student loans, I threw everything I had from my full time job at it until it was paid off, took a year and a lot of tears but I managed it and I made my last payment last weekend.

im a political science major and i just took on $27k in debt for my junior school year…that’s the cost of my freshman and sophomore combined- at 17% interest i fear we are all screwed over 🫠

You can always refinance. You can always work your ass off. You can always make it work. Not everyone has a choice. Don’t feel too guilty about doing something to help you better yourself. Yes, film is hard but there are plenty related areas you could always go into with that if your original plan doesn’t work. You’ll make it happen, stranger.

as a film student…it’s a solid hour of silence and self reflection but i’m gonna be in debt anyway might as well have the education to fall back on and i’d rather be in debt doing what i love than in debt and wondering what could’ve been

To shift your mind a little. To pay off 26k, working a job at 16.50 an hr and working 40hrs a week will have that paid off in 20 months if you have no other bills, if you do have bills then about 2 years. It’s going to take time to pay it off but time passes either way.

I’m just convinced that student debt is one of the most rewarding types of debt to have. Even through the months that I was struggling to pay it off I never once regretted the things I needed it for 🌻
