@the_modern_mortician: A little glass vial filled with so much meaning. I collected some sand today in preparation for a burial at sea. The sand was placed inside cotton pillowcases to help weigh his shrouded body for burial. I saved a small amount to fill these glass vials, carefully wrapping each one as a keepsake for the people who loved him. He will be laid to rest roughly eight nautical miles beyond the mouth of the Columbia River, above Astoria Canyon, where the ocean floor descends more than 8,000 feet. The ocean will hold him, while these small pieces of his final journey remain behind. #BurialAtSea #AstoriaOregon #TheModernMortician
