As much as I absolutely ❤️T2 Judgement Day it's basically just a typical action film. But the original Terminator is an epic 80s horror movie. There's something about Arnold Schwarzenegger as a soulless unstoppable villain that just works so well. Kinda wish he had done more roles as the badguy.

My favourite lore detail about the T-1000 is that its a prototype that Skynet didn’t want to use originally specifically because of how unpredictable and somewhat sentient it is, able to have and express emotions, only after the first Terminator fails does Skynet send it in as a last resort.

The first Terminator was a horror movie at its core. And honestly, it was closer to a “monster movie” or “slasher flick” than it was a sci-if action film. Just like Alien. Then just like Aliens, T2 leaned into action. And they are all time classics.

”Kills the father figure whenever he’s yapping too much” this sentence implies that the stepdad is/could be killed many times instead of once, which is the only amount of times you can kill someone

I’ve read that the concepts of the T 1000 was meant to be that he’s an advanced prototype, which is mentioned in the film, but that it was unknown how he would react and whether it could be controlled. This meant to have been an element of fear from Skynet when releasing the T 1000 because of so much uncertainty around what it could do. I think more of that context should’ve been added to the movie. As the movie goes on I think it’s clearly shows the T1000 is starting to breakdown somewhat and not working as efficiently as at the start. The director’s Cut has several scenes in the steel Mill where he’s seemingly unable to hold certain shapes for too long and also begins taking on the shapes of his surroundings as he interacts with them.
