honestly.. I feel this even as a cis guy. even as an autistic guy. your parents can pretend to be all liberal and crystals and emotionally vulnerable.. they're not. they're really not. my sexuality. my neurotype. was always different. even my sister could have boys over all the time. I couldn't. my first autistic melt down was met with a trip to the police station. I think I was 12.

People are even capable of mourning their own past selves, so the fact that a lot of these comments are acting like you can't grieve the someone another person used to be is bonkers. Like people can even grieve fake people from dreams, but a mother can't grieve a daughter she finds out never truly existed?

I cried watching this scene because the feelings are so familiar. Both were coming from pain, disappointment, rejection, being lost, shame, fear and a lot of things that were not unpacked together.
