The Bible warns us that there are three sins that can lead a person farther and farther away from God. Especially the third one. Many people do not take it seriously, but it is exactly the sin that caused Lucifer to fall. And it can determine where you will spend eternity. First, the love of money. 1 Timothy 6:10 (KJV) says: “For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” Money itself is not sin. What is truly dangerous is loving money. We can work hard for our living. But if you put all your energy into making more money, and because of that, you begin to put God aside, that is when you start drifting away from Him. Second, idolatry. Exodus 20:3 (KJV) says: “Thou shalt have no other gods before me.” An idol is not always a statue. An idol can be anything that takes the place of God. Your family, your work, your reputation, your money, your future, or even someone you admire. So you need to ask yourself: In my heart, who is truly first? If God is no longer first, then something else is becoming your idol. Third, pride. This is a sin many people do not take seriously, but it is exactly the sin that caused Lucifer to fall. This sin did not begin on earth. It began in heaven. He wanted to exalt himself. He wanted to take the place of God. Proverbs 16:18 (KJV) says: “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.” But you must understand this: pride does not always look like saying, “I am better than others.” Pride hides very deeply. Sometimes it is just one sentence in your heart: “I don’t need this.” Every time you refuse to be reminded, every time you refuse to be corrected, pride quietly grows in your heart. If you have listened this far and you recognize yourself in one of these three sins, that is actually good news. It means God is still reminding you. Do not think this is just a small reminder. The truth is, many times we do not fall in one big thing. We fall in these small things, one by one. You can tell me in the comments which one touched you the most: 1. The love of money 2. Idolatry 3. Pride If you want to learn how to overcome sin, understand the Bible more deeply, and truly follow God every day, you are welcome to join our online Bible study.
