I think it’s bc they hear the “you do it for men” line bc most of the time it’s our mothers that tell us to shave and we wear makeup bc every woman in our life does. You might not explicitly think “this is for men” (and trust I believe you I’m a lesbian who used to shave and I still wear makeup) but that doesn’t take away from the influences and expectations that men created/benefit from.

atp yall spend more time policing other women's bodies and choices and preaching about how all of their cosmetic choices are influenced by patriarchy as if that isn't feminism 101, than you spend actually holding meaningful conversations about things that matter. the point has been made, the conversation is tired, idk what further points need to be made about the issue, and the whole dialogue has shifted into ableism. i think a lot of it is just a superiority complex.
