as someone who is arguably the most privilidged demographic (cis het yt guy), what could/should I do when it comes to the midterm elections? I know some of the answers are to listen to minorities and learn from what theyre trying to teach, check my voter registration, etc. But is there anything specific aside from things like that?

"local elections affect you more" is an often quoted statement, but rarely explained. I'd love to see a series describing what some of the down ballot races are and exactly how they affect our lives. People need to understand that just hitting that button for Governor or Senator isn't enough.

It's possible you've already done it, but I think we need to better understand the significance of various positions, like Lt. Gov & judges. I think it may also help down ballot votes, because a number of down-ballot positions don't even show party affiliation?

I wonder if it might help to describe local elected potions like county clerk, etc? I didn't become passionate about local/county elections (embarrassing) until '15/16. Before then it was just names and slogans on a yard sign without knowledge of how important those positions are. Its not s.xy politics, but it is important.

I want to know why people running for office basically ignore rural Texas? Specifically where I am. Fannin county. Is it just considered too red for there to be hope. I have heard there is a Democrat running in every race. Haven’t seen hide nor hair of either side here.

The one tip I have for voting in Texas is get there and vote early. Don’t give the Republicans a chance to screw you over on election day. Get your vote in before then.
