@midlifers_: We lost all sensibility and decided to try our favorite childhood recess game: Chinese jump rope (AKA elastics or jumpsies). It was humbling! Thanks to our friend Carolyn! #midlifer #midlifers

I have wanted to try the Chinese jump rope again, but I can’t find anybody to do it with me. I do have a feeling, though I would fall flat on my face. I’d either trip over the rope or try to jump out of it, but can’t jump quite high enough to jump out of it, and then fall on my face.

Chinese jump rope and we also did High Rope. It was a single length of the rubberband rope. it went from ankles, to knees, to hips, to underarms, to ear then head. Dows anyone else remember that one?

We called this "elastics" as we made them out of a long length of dressmaking elastic.

I loved playing Chinese jump rope when I was in Middle School perhaps even grade school can't remember. Chinese jump rope and jacks were my favorite games. I even set up chairs at home with the Chinese jump rope so I can practice gettinh in and out. thank you for bringing back that fond memory for me!

I think the holder-uppers are standing to close together… that’s my opinion as a midlifer sitting on the couch drinking coffee

Ok here’s what we did : both in In ,both out (1 foot each side ) , both back In, hop up & catch the sides (step on both sides with 1 foot on each side ) . hop & Straddle 1 side (1foot in 1 foot out) . Hop over to Straddle other side , do a spinning hop to have both feet stepping on one side toes facing inward, double foot hop to have both feet stepping on the other side toes facing out .. hop off outside… ……. Same hop pattern but the height & width changed ..

I grew up in San Francisco public schools, we called it high jump. Single or double ropes. My muscle memory would kick right in😂
