That fact that all of these people are expecting you, a very open autistic man, to speak and react like some PR trained professional communicator, shows exactly where the problems are in our community. Like, what’s their headline? “Autistic person exhibits signs of autism!”

Brother you did nothing wrong. I do follow a lot of autistic creators and you have consistently been one of the most vocal about listening to autistic people of all backgrounds and experiences. The reactions you got prove your point about the toxicity within the autistic community where people would rather come for each other than the systems and people who oppress us. Honestly I think a lot of them are psyops and bots trying to sow division. As we all know, not everyone will understand us regardless of our best intentions. People willfully misrepresent autistic voices—even other autistic people. Just keep being you.

I’m autistic and I think your message was perfect. I’ve read and watched a number of times and can’t figure out where the issue is. Is this because you were calling out members of the autistic community for divisiveness? If so, they need to be called out. As you are wrote “we are all on the same team” PS the worst bullying I’ve experienced on this app was from another autistic woman who I disagreed with. The toxic, vile accusations and name calling was huge and really shocking.

I don't understand why autistic people are expected to express themselves with such a high level of perfection. Out of all communities, ours should be one of the first to understand how difficult it is to always communicate flawlessly, and how much time and energy that takes. Honestly, I'm already incredibly impressed by how consistently you manage to post. But if, on top of that, you have to worry about every single word you use, even when simply rereading the sentence makes your intention perfectly clear, then it starts to feel like a witch hunt...

So not understanding why the original post was any kind of problem. There was nothing wrong in the post. Nothing.

So sorry this escalated beyond reason, I understand this must feel like a nightmare for you. You realised your original message needed some clarification, panicked a little bit along the way but then tried to clear things up. You've done your part in this and anyone continuing to escalate this is just mean. You have my support.

Oh Trevor..don’t put the world on your shoulders. If people jump at one «wrong» word, one «wrong» perspective, that’s on them. Nothing you should entertain. Focus on the right audience, don’t lose your authenticity by saying sorry for something that’s not wrong. I’m autistic, read your original posting, found it clear. It was right the first time! Deep breaths in your happy place 🩵😉

Like others have mentioned, I’ve read through this several times and still can’t figure out how it would be misinterpreted 🤷🏼‍♀️I don’t see anything that would cause me to question your intention.

These comments are so out of line and perfectly portray how hard it is to explain yourself without triggering anyone, to then not seeing how an autistic mind works by loxering input and using that agaibst you as well 🤨 Take care buddy 🫂

I can’t see that you did anything wrong or said anything wrong. Maybe sometimes we just need to accept that not everybody is going to understand and we are going to be misunderstood, even by other autistics… social media can be a tough crowd! No need to fawn now Trevor, although I imagine your desire and need now to be understood must be very overwhelming… I recognise this. Please look after yourself and stay well xx 💜

communication is a two way street. all of these people misunderstanding your (imo very clear point) is on them also. and honestly? no one is entitled to take part in a conversation so blocking people is always perfectly fine

I totally respect that.✨🙏 We all make mistakes even when we only mean well. I just think that’s which such big following the responsibility is big too… the bias and privilege that comes with just being you must be taken into account. But, I truly command you Trevor for this post!!✨❤️‍🔥 I do however think that you need a team, a social media manager and a personal assistant to manage this acount for you to protect your mental health… and to avoid situations like this in the future… as your platform grows so is the expectation of others from you, but taking this on alone isnt healthily for your own mental health—just saying..✨❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

I am so sorry this happened, but you were not the problem here. I completely understood what you meant. People always NEED to find a problem with something. I'm sorry that these people treated you so horribly.

There’s literally nothing wrong with this. I’m not autistic, my brother is though and I have my own disabilities. Some of the most ableist people can be disabled people themselves. We get so caught up in needing to be heard and treated properly that we begin to dismiss others in our community that we don’t think are dealing with as much. Like I recently responded to a guy saying he doesn’t care about type 2 diabetes bc they earned it and he was born with it, all while ignoring comments telling him hey new research shows that it can be genetic. All while we’re all fighting the same system. It happens a lot. We want someone to be mad at and the able bodied people/neurotypicals are a more difficult target so we turn to whoever is nearest.
