@britishtextilestudio: Here’s a tier list of fabrics based on how good they are for the environment. All ranked to help you make better informed decisions. Have you learned something? #health #sustainablefashion #fabrics #tierlist #lyocell
Lyocell loses its shape so quickly though so I need to wash it way more often than other fabrics 😭

The absolute most important thing is to buy less clothes(or second hand), not clothes in a specific material when you’re still buying more than you need

hemp is actually such a fantastic plant that is so water efficient and restores soil like a MF and is a great food source for pollinators.. such a shame we still deal with such brain dead stigma around it

Sheep use a lot of land but they also take care of that land by eating grasses to keep the land healthy and fertilizing the land. They also provide food so that would be S for sustainable.

We’d use much less water if America didn’t have massive data centers and popularize bullshit grass lawns

Wool dose not waste land. It’s largely renewable. It produces a lot of the land it takes. It also can supply food and can add to soil health. All depends on how it’s used.

There is a lot of animal cruelty with marino wool. It def should be lower because of that even though it is better for the environment.

I use to live near a cotton field. i was allowed to take some home after helping the farmer with his harvest and despite it taking literal MONTHS I managed to weave a basic shirt from it. still have it 6 years later

Merino wool should be in A. It’s just not a popular material since it’s usually used for winter but it’s the affordable version of cashmere. It’s an eco friendly material but its sustainability depends on the farm producing it

I’m so proud that I almost only buy from S and B tier, a lot of second hand as well. I love lyocell, IKEA sells blanket covers made from lyocell and I love it. Linen is so good for summer. I love modal underwear (from Uniqlo). And MUJI sells hemp clothes.
