I’m a psychologist not a physician and I’ve read these books. Everyone should read them. Siddhartha Mukherjee is a truly gifted writer. His other books - The Gene and The Song of The Cell are equally well done. Sherwin Nuland’s “How We Die”

I also recommend Josie’s Story to everyone. It’s about a young girl who dies from a medical error and her mom leading the charge to change communication practices in hospitals like John’s Hopkins. It really teaches you from the very beginning the importance of communication and multidisciplinary team work in healthcare!
