This is a roughly 2 year transformation. 1. High protein diet - this is the first thing I did when I started lifting. This is key for protein synthesis which builds muscle. You should be eating around 1g of protein per pound of body weight you have. So as you progress and gain muscle/weight you should be increasing your protein accordingly 2. Calorie Surplus - I was eating in a calorie surplus for majority of the time of been lifting in order to put the most size on possible. I dirty bulked my first 6 months which was dumb because I put on a lot of fat. Then I figured out a slight calorie surplus over time will keep you lean and put on as little fat as possible while gaining muscle. 3. Train to or close to failure -this one took some time to get good at and I’m still improving and learning every day however I realized how much work it actually takes to put on muscle. Your body doesn’t want to grow muscle so you have to force it to. You can’t just do 10 reps of a moderate weight for an exercise and call it good. You have to do a challenging weight and push to or close to failure. 4.recovery -first of all getting 7-8 hours of sleep is a must. If you’re not getting proper sleep then you’re not going to be getting great results period. Secondly, listen to your body. What I mean by this is take rest days when you NEED them. I’m not saying make excuses and say you’re tired, but I’m saying if your going to hit a muscle group and you’re still sore in that muscle group then either take a rest day or hit something else. Don’t hit a muscle group that’s already fatigued just because it’s next up in your routine. 5. Consistency -this is one of the biggest things when it comes to making progress in the gym and in anything in life. You have to be disciplined enough to do it even when you don’t feel up to it. If you’re not consistent you’re not going to get the results you want. You have to fully commit to it and stick with it. This part was honestly easy for me because I started really enjoying my workouts and I still do. It’s fun to me to progress and keep hitting my goals and I truly believe 90 percent of people will enjoy it as well. 6.supplements -this one is optional honestly but it can definitely be helpful. For example if you struggle to get your protein in then protein powder is a great quick way to hit your protein goals if you’re lacking. I also think everyone should take creatine, it’s not going to make you bloated or any of those other myths, it simply helps you put on a little bit more muscle. Not a noticeable amount more but it still helps so why not take it. It also helps with cognitive function. The last supplement I have taken is pre-workout. It’s not necessary by any means but it can definitely help you give max effort on a day where you would’ve been tired going into the workout. So therefore it can help you get better results. Those are the things I did to maximize my results in my lifting journey and I’m happy to share them in hopes of helping all the people that see this. Comment “💪” if you read this whole thing and I’ll drop you a follow.
