@austintukwa01: 🇰🇭Cambodia is very welcoming to expats, especially when you genuinely want to contribute to the country. People give you the opportunity to contribute, and they treat you so well. Sometimes, their hospitality makes me think, “I wish I could do something more for you.” I personally experienced this kindness when I broke my leg. The young Khmer receptionist at my building brought food upstairs, carried my belongings, called and texted to ask if I was okay, and always made sure I had everything I needed. Because I couldn’t walk beyond the lobby, tuk-tuks and cars had to pick me up from the parking area. Since I couldn’t speak Khmer very well, he would talk to the drivers and ask them to come closer to collect me. He helped me without me even needing to ask. The security guards at the campus where I worked showed me the same kindness. They carried a wheelchair, helped me into it, and took me all the way to my classroom. Sometimes, I felt like I didn’t need that much attention, but they continued helping because they knew I was in pain and wanted to make my life easier. They never asked me for anything in return. That is something you don’t see very often around the world. Sometimes, people help because they expect something from you, but my experience in Cambodia was different. These people are nice simply because they’re nice. ❤️🇰🇭
