After listening to them, the Shaykh simply said: “Return tomorrow, and I will answer your question.” When they returned the following day, they were met with unexpected news: the Shaykh had passed away. Remembering his promise, they went to his grave and called out: “O Shaykh, you promised that you would settle this matter for us.” According to the narration, at that moment, the Shaykh’s foot emerged from his grave. Then, someone reportedly remarked: “We do not know of any Wali (friend of Allah) from among the Kurds.” It is said that a voice came from the grave, replying: “I am a Kurd. I am one of Allah’s Awliya’. I have brought my foot out of my grave is this not sufficient proof?” It is said that this remarkable sign remains visible to this day. Visitors to the grave of Shaykh Muhammad Ayub Tahir al-Kurdi (رحمه الله) in Damascus report that they can still see his preserved foot extending from the grave, more than 800 years after his passing.
