my ex is a veteran. he said he was more traumatized from going to Katrina than Iraq. he could talk about Iraq (which was some shit lemme tell you) but that man could barely talk about Katrina. he's got some major ptsd that he's just not in a place and may never be to talk about and deal with.

Semi trucks showed up to New Orleans with supplies, ice, food and they were turned away by the officials. The military also promised to bring kids to safety and those kids were never seen by their families again

mind you the neighborhoods that were destroyed were some of the first black owned neighborhoods. those homes and businesses were supposed to build generational wealth for so many families and in one night they were just gone. and this wasn't the first time the levees broke, flooding those same neighborhoods. its systemic and no one will convince me otherwise.

Shout out to the man Lieutenant General Russel Luke Honoré, who truly cared for the people of New Orleans. He didn’t have the order to go help, but he went anyway. He ordered armed soldiers to lower their weapons around civilians, stating that “troops were there to help victims, not fight a war.”
