Don’t empty your own plate in the process of feeding everyone else. You are not called to carry every burden, solve every family crisis, or satisfy the hunger of an entire nation. Long before you were born, others sacrificed what they could. Long after you’re gone, others will continue the work. You are only responsible for your own part, not the whole world. Many compassionate people have quietly become victims of their own kindness. They gave until they had nothing left. They neglected their health, their dreams, their finances, and their peace, believing that saying “yes” to everyone was the same as being a good person. Sadly, some of the very people they exhausted themselves for disappeared the moment the help stopped, leaving them empty, forgotten, and struggling to rebuild their own lives. The painful truth is that not everyone who receives your kindness will appreciate it. Some people will keep taking until there is nothing left to take. They won’t ask whether you’re tired, whether you’re hungry, or whether you’re hurting. Once your resources are exhausted, they’ll simply move on as though your sacrifices never existed. Help people, but don’t abandon yourself in the process. Support others, but protect your future. Give, but leave enough for your own survival. Your dreams matter. Your health matters. Your peace matters. Your family matters. Your future matters. You also deserve the same compassion you freely extend to others. You are worthy of your own generosity.
