Newborns have to learn how to do two things at the same time: 👶 Push with their abdominal muscles 👶 Relax the pelvic floor muscles that let poop come out Early on, they haven’t mastered that coordination yet. So they may strain, grunt, cry, and turn red, even though the poop itself is soft and easy to pass. Here’s what to know: • This is not constipation • The stool is soft, not hard • Your baby feels better after pooping • It resolves on its own as the nervous system matures What helps? ✔️ Reassurance ✔️ Time ✔️ Patience If your baby’s stools are hard, there’s blood in the stool, persistent vomiting, poor weight gain, a swollen belly, or they seem uncomfortable all the time, it’s important to have them evaluated by their pediatrician. #newborn #newbaby #newmom #newdad #babycare
