@ratelfanbase: 🇳🇬 Nigeria–Biafra War: A Short Story The Nigeria–Biafra War, also known as the Nigerian Civil War, began in 1967 and lasted until 1970. After years of political tension, ethnic violence, and disagreements over how Nigeria should be governed, the southeastern region declared itself the independent Republic of Biafra in May 1967. The Nigerian federal government rejected the declaration, and war broke out. The conflict became extremely devastating. Many people were killed, millions were displaced, and civilians in Biafra suffered severe hunger and starvation, especially because of the blockade during the war. The Nigerian federal forces eventually regained control of most Biafran territory. In January 1970, Biafra surrendered, bringing the war to an end. The war left deep wounds across Nigeria.
