Baseball Coach, M.S., MBA :
Everyone loves a free market until they’re not the winners. The Tigers didn’t have to trade Skubal. Other teams could have matched and easily passed the Dodgers offer. I love LA! 💙🔥

I don’t understand why Skubal was traded to begin with, like why? Haven’t the Tigers been doing better lately?

tigers fan here. I've watched chris ilitch single handedly take my two favorite teams in sports in the red wings and tigers from the contenders/yearly powerhouses his dad had them as and turned them into shit. im so over him.

Personally, gotta respect how the Dodgers gluttony was used against them to overturn the system that so greatly benefited them. A supposedly smart franchise racing headlong into an obvious trap is absolutely beautiful.

Since you’ve worked with the mlb what’s their problem? Soccer players in Europe make so much more money than baseball players. The baseball owners are billionaires so how is it the dodgers problem if other teams don’t pay their employees?

You may be right. But something needs to change you would agree? I don’t like this world where PCA for my own cubs is just taken by the dodgers because they can overpay anyone. In my example, pca grew up here. He should stay here. I don’t think he’ll leave. But the allure of 1) LA, 2) the money, 3) the chance to win a WS with a super team will continue to lead to franchises trading away their best players - the players that the fans most care about. How do you think tiger fans feel today about this? It’s a shitty outcome and I hope something changes. The other leagues have figured this out, baseball needs to.

don't want a cap but a floor would be nice but this 100% is going to stop the game and have a lockout.

How can they expand 2 teams when a handful of teams are the only ones spending money and buying, not developing, all the talent.

Anything out there seems like other teams just weren’t willing to trade a better package. Milwaukee wouldn’t trade Henderson…

💯!! There’s no reason the Ricketts shouldn’t be spending money and bringing another WS trophy to Wrigley. But hey, let’s blame the kid who worked their tail off and developed into a player worth their salary.

Any team could have gotten him. No money was exchanged. It was a trade. Also, that's why Capitalism doesn't work.

the Dodgers have strike insurance. go all out 2026 and play even if they get hurt. all their old players get a half season break. play a shortened season to go all out and quadrapeat in 2027

Billionaires didn't become billionaires by not prioritizing profits, and an MLB franchise is just another business to them. I don't see how you can get 30 ownership groups to prioritize winning (as fans want) over profits unless a certain level of profit is already baked in....it's an odd marriage, but it just so happens what's best for the owners is what's "best" for the fans.

I said that last night when I saw the trade come through it didn’t make sense, and I find it very hard to believe that there wasn’t one team that would’ve offered a better prospect than what the doctors gave up

salary cap needs to also come with a salary floor. The Dodgers shouldn't be able to do what their doing. Cleveland shouldn't either.

It’s also partially cuz the Tigers were being cheap with his extension… while the dodgers said”look at this cute 200 million dollar contract over 8 yrs with 198 million deferred!” Salary cap and floor together (both would hafta happen for it to be taken seriously) wouldn’t make em spend. The harsh reality is if they don’t wanna spend they ain’t gonna. And unfortunately there’s nothing the fans can do about it.
