Mileage doesn’t matter to me. We can do a 10 mile but if we’re under 1000ft elevation I’m solid. BUT IDC IF ITS A MILE HIKE, IF WERE GOING UP. IM BRINGING MY STICKS

I was near the summit of mt washington, cursing myself for not bringing any gear or eating enough food. Then two grey haired older women passed by going twice my pace, while talking, without trekking poles. I had no excuse, realized there were simply levels to this.

It has been a mystery to me WHAT exactly do people carry in those huge backpacks on trails that take you even 5-6 hours to hike… from my perspective all you need is a light snack and some water.
