What does it mean that “the kingdom of heaven is taken by force”? Many Christians may have misunderstood this. The Lord Jesus said in Matthew 11:12: “the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.” Matthew 11:12, KJV Do you know that the meaning in the original Greek is much stronger than many people realize? It carries this kind of expression: the kingdom of heaven is taken by force. So what does “taken by force” mean? It sounds shocking. Does it mean the kingdom of heaven is taken by physical violence? Of course not. The Bible says: “we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.” Acts 14:22, KJV The Lord Jesus also said: “Enter ye in at the strait gate.” Matthew 7:13, KJV The road that leads to life is narrow, and few find it. The kingdom of heaven is not prepared for those who are cold, lazy, and only want to remain in religious appearances. True faith is not only reading the Bible, praying, gathering, doing good deeds, giving offerings, and enjoying the Lord’s grace. These are only the beginning, not the end. Those who truly seek God will hunger for the truth, be willing to be changed by God, walk the narrow road, and pay the price to enter God’s kingdom. So ask yourself today: Am I believing in God comfortably, or am I seriously pursuing entrance into God’s kingdom?
