@uraan_stories_official: This Water-Powered Clock Shocked Europe in 807. In 807 CE, Caliph Harun al-Rashid sent Charlemagne an extraordinary brass water clock. When an hour was completed, a metal ball dropped onto a cymbal and produced a ringing sound. Small brass horsemen then emerged through windows as the clock marked the twelve hours. There was no electricity, modern motor, or electronic sensor. Water controlled the passage of time and activated the machine’s concealed mechanical system. The Royal Frankish Annals recorded the clock and called it a marvellous mechanical construction. The original device has disappeared, and the name of its Abbasid engineer was never preserved—but its movements were described by the people who received it. #HarunAlRashid #Charlemagne #AbbasidHistory #MedievalTechnology #HistoryTok
