It is fun and whimsical, but anything that adds a step loses visitors. As developers we can appreciate and see the art behind it, unfortunately users see it as a distraction from what they are trying to get to. A good example of this ssme principle is load screens on car infotainment systems. Cool at first, but when the allure wears off it becomes an annoyance.
