Losing $2,000 is better than buying a home that ends up needing tens of thousands of dollars in repairs. This is why I always communicate the potential risks to my buyers and encourage them to make informed decisions. Sometimes walking away isn’t a loss it’s protecting your future investment

lol I mean it’s the same thing as if you pay a mechanic $200-300 to inspect a used car. But if they find issues, you’ll be glad you don’t move forward with the purchase

if you backed out, you dont pay for the appraisal. It would be about 700 total for home and pest inspection. It's out of pocket but worth it.

Yes, that is correct when you pay for outside services so that does an appraisal or a Home Inspection those independent contractors who you hired for their time and expertise and labor. Do not refund you your money they completed their job.

The appraisal has always been one of the last things done in any house I bought. So much can change the appraisal price between going under contract and closing. That is wild it was done prior to inspection.
