My grandma got dementia and then said something weird like “she wished she never did it” turns out she got pregnant when she was young and was forced to give the girl up for adoption, 5 or 6 years ago my dad and his brother got an email from someone saying that she was their half sister she lives in Australia and wanted to meet her birth mother but my grandmother already had bad dementia and when she came to visit my grandma immediately recognised her and started crying … she is now very close with the family and it’s like she was never not apart of the family sadly she only got a year with my grandmother before she passed away from dementia

We found out after my grandpa’s funeral when we were going through his things that he had an affair with a woman when he was stationed in Germany on an Army base in the 1960s, got her pregnant, abandoned her and the baby & went back to his life in the U.S. like nothing happened. There’s an entire German side of our family we didn’t know about. I hope that baby’s life was okay despite his deadbeat father 😭

I learned just a few years ago (I'm 29) that my bio mom had tried to drown me in the bathtub when I was 6 months old, my dad caught her, and by the time I was 8 months old my nana and papa (dad's parents) were my legal guardians. I knew that was a big hullabaloo in court hearings and that's why my dad's side and my mom's side are a bit tense with each other. I surmised that my dad (an alcoholic trucker at the time) voluntarily gave up his parental rights so I could be safe and better cared for by his parents. I love and miss him every day 🥰

When I was 45 I had someone contact me on Facebook and tell me that my mother had other children. I did not believe it and I took a DNA test to protect my mother’s honor. Turns out I have 4 half siblings and I wasn’t an only child. it was just the beginning of a lot of secrets that were revealed to me. I can’t believe I’m sitting here typing this right now

We have very little idea of what my grandmother did for work. All I know is that she was a civilian working for the US Military and on paper she was an “electrical engineer”. I have pictures of her getting awards and certificates I will never know about. My dad remembers her flashing a green passport at the airport growing up and them not having to stop in security. She traveled often and they even lived in Germany for a few months. There are reportedly Christmas cards from a president or two. She would never give too much information about what she did and when asked on her death bed she answered “not on your life”. When I was growing up she worked a different job at a military base in Mississippi and still couldn’t talk about her job. She ended up getting cancer, which wasn’t that surprising as she smoked like a freight train. However, the doctors were shocked to see how rapidly the cancer spread and the path it took. They said it was like it was supercharged and tried to get information on what she had been around and working with. She refused and said that it was above their pay grade and they didn’t have the clearance.

My racist uncle has four kids and each of them are in an interracial marriage; their spouses are people of distinct races (Korean, Indian, African, South American). Uncle didn't have a single white grandchild and I love it for him.

I can’t wait for my daughter to get older. My wife and I were told she’d only get pregnant with medical intervention. We saving up for another IUI when we decided to try again at home. Due to our size, we had to use a turkey baster to get things where they needed to go. My wife told me I can’t say on thanksgiving “this brings back memories” when holding the turkey baster to our daughter. 😂

My stepfather died back in ‘13 and maybe 6-7 months later DT’s came knocking on the door.They had found bones out by some railroads tracks in a couple towns over.Come to find out it was a guy that had peeped through my window when I was 15 and then tried to solicit me😳He had been renting out the house next to ours that we owned.I told my stepfather and he had beat the crap out of him and the guy just disappeared.I remember my parents going into the house and packing everything up but I don’t ever remember the guy coming back for the stuff.They found out the identity of the guy and traced him back to our address.Thats also when I found out the real reason why my stepfather had done prison time back in the 70s.He killed a guy.See my stepdad was a member of a well known MC club.One of the members had a daughter who was violently SA and basically my stepfather took him to the “train station”.So basically he killed pedos.

My uncle “Andy” FaceTimed me at 8pm which was unusual for him. I answered and he was acting really strange with his phone on the back camera so I couldn’t see him, what he didn’t realise was his phone was pointing towards a mirror and I could tell he was wearing a ladies wig. He flipped the camera around and was just staring down the phone wearing makeup. That was the day she came out as “Amy”. I’m so thankful of that mirror for giving me a few seconds to school my OMG face

my family is insanely Christian. my grandfather is a pastor. my uncle is one of those ppl who hated his "boy" kids playing with dolls when i was a kid. now one of his sons is openly Trans and they have completely disowned him. I have now 10000% cut off that part of my family.

My great aunt Helen was a sassy, amazing lady. Her drunk step father lost her in a poker game when she was 12. She was taken to West Virginia and SA'd, gave birth, the baby died, she escaped, and WALKED back to where she came from in central Ohio. She took no shit from anyone, I absolutely adored her. She taught me how to wink and not to trust the government. She died when I was still a kid but left a huge impression on me.
