the jeans thing is wild because I don't really remember anything my teachers wore because it didn't really matter. Except for that one teacher that consistently wore socks and sandals. I'll never forget that.

so i made a kid wear band aids on open wounds and got in trouble for providing bandaids. i brought up blood borne pathogens and they said it didn't matter. why we doin the module then? (this was a severe autism class and the wounds were SIB.)

I went 3 years without doing the blood born pathogen modules just to see what would happen and in fact nothing happened they stopped emailing me reminding me after like the first month of school 😂

Three team building activities that required standing on our first day of preplanning. One we even had to move those big cafeteria tables to make a circle then move them back after.

I had a principal that made us pay $5 to wear jeans on certain days. Because "jean days are sacred".. 😳

I’m so thankful I have never had to work with a principal like this. 7 years in and only fantastic admin… does that make me an education unicorn?

This year we are going no personal devices period… smart watches, smart glasses, tablets, kindles, laptops, and phones. Guess who is responsible for implementing it… 😏 kids can keep them all on them, and then half the teachers will still let them be used, so those of us who enforce the rules become the bad guys.

We can wear jeans, as long as they aren’t blue. Explain that.

And the experts wonder why there's a teacher shortage! So glad to be a 33 year career now retired teacher. 🥰

When they hype up the special speaker they brought in to talk at you for four hours straight. I’m so excited. Yay.

One time at a district wide PD they showed one of your TikTok’s in their slides and I just feel like you wouldn’t have supported that.

When a group of teachers, including myself, did LETRS training, every module had a day long virtual training. Each time the speaker shared how long he / she had previously taught. Everyone in the room had more experience as a teacher, but we were sure the LETRS trainer was making more than us.

Our staff would RIOT if someone said no jeans. You want no jeans, you come to the negotiating table. Otherwise— miss us ALL with that craziness.

As a school nurse please drop the blood borne pathogens & just do diabetic, asthma, seizure, sickle cell, and common sense first aid.

We had a guest speaker appearing like once a month to run a PD series with us and the other middle school in our district last year. It ended after the 4th month or so after we gave our feedback of how it was going and because of our attitude in every session. We got an "I'm not mad, just disappointed" speech from our principal.

I interviewed at a school that required teachers to wear uniforms like the students. Literally same khakis and a school polo. Immediately turned down that offer.

My principal told our brand new VP in the hall, in front of several teachers walking by, that no admin will not be subbing or covering classes. If she starts with one, it will start a bad precedent and then she’ll have to do it for other people too. We were down to just 3 subs for our school by the end of the year and every day there was a school wide email of how classes were going to be split. She kept her word, admin never covered a class. At some point wouldn’t it be easier to cover a class? Instead of trying to finagle classes and paras and duties?
