some of y'all are missing the point. child free ppl are expected to contribute way more than they get back. it consistently happens cuz they "don't have kids" and the ppl with kids "need" more.

I did birthdays, baby showers, wedding showers, engagement parties, bachelorettes, weddings, dog watching, house sitting, rides to the airport, babysitting. None of those people have ever reciprocated in the same way. Not even a little. This skit hits.

I am a teacher and make a wishlist every year. I’ll give you a guess how many of my friends with kids have donated to that but expect me to donate to their kids school fundraisers.

There was a Sex and the City episode about this! Carrie had to take off her designer shoes at the door at a baby’s welcome party, someone swiped them and the host didn’t want to reimburse her for them. Carrie did the math, between the couple’s engagement, wedding, multiple kids and all the gift registries Carrie had contributed thousands of dollars to this one family. So she made her own registry celebrating her being single, sent it to the lady, and it was the pair of shoes that got swiped. Great episode!! I’m not doing it justice with my description. Definitely worth the watch for this topic!!

child free people are expected to do baby showers and birthdays and holidays and child events like karate and such. but if we have a nice dinner and invite people because of a promotion no one shows up

I know a couple that makes well over 6 figures that ask the family for donations for their kids private school. They accepted money from his great grandmother on a low income. Im not donating to raising anyone kids.😏

I purposely never asked any of my non parent friends to contribute to any fund raisers or the like for our child and we actually just purchased the minimum in any fund raiser event for our child instead of asking friends and family or going door to door to sell anything. In 18 years, we may have asked 3 times for fund raising and never the non parents. As parents, even we are annoyed by the amount of fund raising we are asked for in a year for children we know. It is out of hand.

This. I go to work to afford the type of life I want to live. If I wanted to spend that money on kids, I would have made some. Alas, I did not. Of course, I buy birthday/ christmas gifts without expecting anything in return, but do not expect me to contribute further.
