in my world, the sky is made of an energy that dissolves magic. the further you get up, the worse magic is to use, and at the top, that energy has formed a solid layer (so yes, you could shatter the sky. won't end well though.)

honestly, people tend to overload their magic systems with rules. IT IS MAGIC, it does not need rules, it needs intentions and consequences. Understanding magic is about understanding yourself and the world around you. Mastery is about getting what you want, the way you expect it to happen.

I actually have the opposite of the first one. they called hubs. Basically places that are heavily saturated by memories, emotions and magic(100s of years). The hubs are semi sentient so how they affect the ambient magic around them varies based in lore.

the only magic system that I have is axioms which are the concepts of the universe embedded into your soul at birth so this universe is kinda cracked and the way it works is kinda like if domain expansion and stands had a baby it's got a fixed range but it expands or shrinks depending on the amount of determination or will that you have there are also artificial axioms which are based on manmade concepts like screens

How about a magic system with multiple ways to activate magic. Chant, hand signs, dance, stance, and calligraphy. Each giving certain bonuses to spells and top magicians intermingle those ways speed up/strengthen spells.
