I have been waiting for the rest of the SOIAF books to be published since 2005 since I don't want to start book series that isn't finished.... Seems I'm going to be waiting for rest of eternity to read them....

I HAVE BEEN READING THIS SERIES FOR 30 FRICKEN YEARS!!!????!!! Stuff like this makes me feel so old and then I remember the series isn't even finished yetamd GRRM is sooo much older than me even. I send him blessings of a long life and we both live to see the end!

a bit personal: I found Game of Thrones when I was like 17/18. Liked them a lot, but didn't really sit with me long. But just before I turned 19, my mom died and I was heavily grieving. I did what I always did when I was feeling like ass, and turned to reading, and that meant a reread and that's when I really fucking fell in love with the books. These books genuinely provided such an escape for me, it turned into my favorite fantasy books. I adore them, even if the series is unfinished.

My daughter told me just the other day that she thinks that The winds and Winter is complete but he doesn't want it published until after his death so no one can argue with him about how it all ends and it will truly be finished.

it's crazy to me how many people in the fandom haven't read the books! not only are they amazing, but they're actually really approachable, especially A Game Of Thrones - the chapters are short enough and the pacing is quick enough that it just flies by. I know a lot of people are intimidated by the books, but just give it a try!
