I hit a groundhog on a back road. I sobbed for 20 min bc what if she had babies and was going for food and now the babies are gonna die because I hit their mom and they’re just waiting for her to come home 😭 I spun back and got her body before anyone else could hit her.

Why are people in the comments acting like you have to be speeding to hit an animal? Deer will literally jump right in front of a car from a ditch without any warning and yall know that, you just wanna be annoying. Clearly this person has empathy and while you should never touch a dying animal because they can carry many diseases but still the thought was an empathetic one which is better than most people. Some people buy those front racks for their trucks where I live to basically run animals over without it hurting their truck ...now that's absolutely vile.

The young one stayed with the older one for convenience, it was old enough to be on its own. Coon was around way before it was a slur here, keep doing you. Agreed on moving it off the road, but should be the last contact. Hang around and wait at a distance. Now you know. Im sorry for you and the poor racoon. It happens a lot out here in BFE.

I hit a raccoon a few weeks ago, my first time ever hitting an animal and I still cry every night because I feel so bad. I literally had to look up if I’m still a good person on google after I got home that night. Just telling myself maybe it was already dying and I put it out of its misery

On my way to feed my horses, Two raccoons ran out in front of me and I swerved to miss them and hit their baby that bolted out after them. I scream cried it upset me so bad and I still tear up every time I think about it. It crushed my soul knowing I took their baby 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

I tried swerving around a stray cat that bolted out of the woods one night. My back tire got its leg. I cried & stayed for well over an hour watching it & apologizing to the cat before animal control was able catch it to get it help
