these are not theoretical, you can buy them right now, or even make them at home. there was a guy who found that, I forget if it's brass or copper, but if you cover it in sulfur for a period of time it will form a layer that acts as a memristor.
also memristors are commercially available from a company called knowm.

Could you clarify in what sense the memristor is ‘fundamental’? The fourth element argument seems to come from completing a formal set of relationships among q, phi, V, and I, but that does not necessarily make it a missing physical component of electromagnetism. Since practical memristive devices are usually resistive systems with internal states changed by ion motion, filament formation, phase change, temperature, and so on, would it be more precise to call the memristor a distinct constitutive model rather than a missing link in E&M? The definitions you provided depends on pre established E&M principles. Maybe I misunderstood. Electrical is not my specialty. Am I interpreting this as accidental sensationalism? Idk

The Bear :
Googled memristors and apparently they’ve been slowly working towards mass production use in components such as ReRAM. Some of the big fabs, which are very difficult, expensive, and time consuming to prepare, are just a year or two from making them available for use in commercial products. Like, they’re not vaporware, they’re just in a category of microelectronics that takes a tremendous amount of time to bring to market.
