The last week of my daughter’s life was spent in her home but the week before was her dad’s. She was dying of cancer and we knew it was coming. She came home and I could tell she wasn’t going to be here much longer. I’d frequently asked her dad how she was and it was always “she’s fine! She’s having a good time” then he saw her unresponsive in the hospital 2 days after she came home and he said “this is how she’s been for the last couple days, I just thought she was tired” and she spent those days laying on the couch, downstairs. Probably ignored. I’m so sorry you lost him in this way, but he knows how much you miss and love him 🧡

I’ve been following the Lindsay Clancy case (which is devastating for a lot of reasons) but one thing it made me think of is how I’m surprised that Wilder’s dad never faced any charges. No involuntary manslaughter. Nothing. Not only that but having continued required visitation with your daughter. Blows my mind.

As a silent follower for years on the other side of the world I burst out crying when I saw the montage of him. The way you talk about him is through every part of his personality- every quirk, every interest. I wasn’t expecting to see the little boy that is larger than life through your stories after it. I am so sorry there are parts of your grief that have been highjacked. I liken it to those of the families of the victims of senseless crimes that never will get the answers as to why. You are the strongest person I’ve been lucky to witness. Keep doing what you’re doing in your grief. As someone who’s forced to move forward, you’re doing the best you can with it in sharing him with us ❤️
