#LYLASLAW || lyla’s law 🩷 lyla shannon story was a bright, funny, beautiful little girl. she was incredibly talkative, she loved to play with her older brother, bounce on her trampoline and all of her family. she was so energetic and such a kind little soul, with a smile that could light up any room. she truly brought joy to anyone who came into contact with her. in may 2025, lyla’s family’s world came crashing down when her father, john, found her passed away in bed. less than 24 hours earlier, lyla’s gp had incorrectly diagnosed her with tonsillitis when in reality, lyla had type 1 diabetes. lyla had all the symptoms. the four ts: - Toilet (increased and frequent need to use the toilet) - Thirst (thirsty more often and at an extreme amount) - Tired (tired more often and no matter how much sleep you’ve had) - Thinner (rapid weight loss) these symptoms should’ve prompted lyla’s gp to test her blood sugar. a quick, less than 10 second finger prick to check if diabetes was present. it didn’t. and lyla lost her life after her diabetes was missed and she went into acute diabetic ketoacidosis. her parents have started lyla’s law, a campaign to make routine diabetic testing mandatory in young children. support lyla’s law to save lives like lyla’s. do it for lyla 🤍 #fyp #lylastory #lylaslaw #type1diabetes @Lylas Law
