I appreciate what you are saying. As a Punjabi Sikh since 1975, I believe newcomers must learn the truth about the Indigenous Peoples whose lands they now call home. That responsibility cannot rest only on First Nations people. Our governments, schools, employers, and community institutions must also provide meaningful education about treaties, Indigenous histories, residential schools, and the responsibilities we inherit by living on these lands. In our nonprofit organization, we employ people from many cultures, including Indigenous people, because their voices and perspectives must be present within our work. We intentionally weave Indigenous learning into our programming, including the Seven Sacred Teachings of love, respect, courage, honesty, wisdom, humility, and truth. This is not symbolic. It is part of understanding where we live, building reciprocal relationships, and teaching children that. Division is a powerful political tactic Unfortunately people do are not seeing this.If Indigenous people, newcomers, workers, and racialized communities came together ❤️wow ! Food for though Division does not care about your colour, culture, faith, or creed.
