Make sure that you PROPERLY dispose of your stain since that stuff catches fire (I’m not 100% if the gel makes a difference)

I’m not sure I’m understanding why we just sanded it down and not completely remove the paint? I know people can use a specific kit to make something look like it has wood grain…. But that’s a completely dif kit. And that is stain, meant to stain wood cabinets after the paint has been removed and then sanded. Why not just remove the paint? I’m sure that is a wood cabinet that has just been painted? And if not why not buy the proper kit? Also from personal mistakes if you don’t do this right I can assure you that stain will absolutely not hold up especially with water or cleaning

I renovate homes fir a living and this is one of my favorite products! It works best if you use a “ chip “ brush to apply and a thin rag . Those red rags are super absorbent and used for more oil/ shop clean up. This product can be used over multiple textures not just raw wood . Keep up the good work and I’m sure it turned out great 💖

I was super confused at first until I saw a comment about what you were trying to achieve. Look up “faux wood” techniques on YouTube. You don’t just slap the stain on like paint 😂 good thing is that you can always try again!

Look up Retique It or rolls of real wood veneer. You can attach veneer with an iron (has a glue back) and then stain and finish the wood. They sell rolls in various widths

Drop the paint brush. Just wipe that ish on with a rag! Gel stain is so easy but soooo hard.

I’ve done this literally like 20 times. Multiple fake wood pieces, vinyl windows, pvc Trim, mdf cabinet fronts, a couple garage doors. The brush is what makes the list difference! You need a course brush! Or honestly an old nasty paintbrush that is missing bristles and kinda hardened haha And definitely don’t wipe it. You only wipe it if it’s a real wood piece you’re staining! Also you can layer colors to help it. I like mixing hickory and walnut! Good luck!

I’ve done wood stain on painted furniture a couple of times and loved it, IMO you have to do an EXTREMELY thin layer and then wipe it with a rag and then have a separate dry brush to get a grainy effect

i !!!NEVER!!!! have a good experience with gel stain. ever. i’ve tried it so many times for so many projects. it looks streaky and horrible every single time. i end up just painting it on thick like paint and calling it a day😭

Chalk paint first then you’re able to stain using gel or oil based 💕
