The Fed just raised interest rates. Here’s what that means for YOUR money. 👀💰 When the Federal Reserve raises interest rates, it can sound like another piece of financial news that has nothing to do with your everyday life. But your credit cards? Your car loan? Your savings? Your investments? That variable-rate debt you forgot about? Yeah… this can affect all of it. Here are 4 things I want you paying attention to: 1️⃣ Check your credit card APR. If you’re carrying high-interest credit card debt—especially at 20%+—look at what you’re actually paying in interest. When rates rise, variable-rate borrowing can become even more expensive. 2️⃣ Check where your savings is sitting. If your emergency fund is sitting in an account earning next to nothing, this is a good time to compare what high-yield savings accounts and money market accounts are paying. Higher interest rates can hurt borrowers, but they can also mean better yields for savers. 3️⃣ Review anything with a variable interest rate. That could include a HELOC, adjustable-rate mortgage, certain private student loans, credit cards or other variable-rate debt. Know what you owe, whether your rate can change and how an increase could affect your monthly payment. Because building wealth—especially when you’re first-generation—means learning the financial information nobody sat you down and taught you. 4️⃣ Don’t panic and stop investing. Market headlines can make you feel like you need to DO something immediately. But reacting emotionally to every Federal Reserve decision can work against a long-term investing strategy. Keep learning. Keep paying attention. And understand why you’re invested in the first place. You don’t need to become an economist every time the Federal Reserve makes an announcement. But you DO need to understand what the Fed’s interest rate decisions could mean for your debt, savings, investing and overall wealth-building strategy. Information is the inheritance. 💚 Send this to the group chat because everybody needs to know what an interest rate hike actually means for their money. #financialnews #financialliteracy #womeninfinance #womensupportingwomen
