Speaking during the funeral of veteran politician Kosti Manibe Ngai in Juba, Vice President Nyandeng said South Sudanese leaders have, in some cases, caused harm to the country that was never inflicted by its enemies. She stated, “We have inflicted on ourselves things that our enemies did not do to us.” Nyandeng also questioned the level of accountability and oversight over President Salva Kiir Mayardit, asking who is responsible for providing proper checks and oversight within the country’s leadership.
