It would be very easy to give James credit for speaking up. But what’s great, is it’s because of you he’s even saying it. You deserve all the compliments. Being “humbled” says more about the people saying it, not you. I’ve loved your content for ages. You’re doing content that is necessary. Side note, use men’s beard dye - it lasts longer and it’s cheaper! Go figure!

I feel this to my bones! I live in Australia and tall poppy is horrific. I thought the EU was better, maybe it is a human thing? Or a horrible hang on from the "empire/colonisation". This is why I only came to stand up in my 30s and even then I’m like ahhhhhhhhh. Tall poppy syndrome is real. It is something that isn’t really a thing in the US. I was there for work last week and the amount of SUPPORT there I got was wild! Also, the man, the myth, the legend: Barry. Who let me bring my dog to James’ WIP hahaha

I reckon that in Britain, any kind of ambition or self promotion/ congratulation is frowned upon, as a direct result of the two WW… an era where ‘hustle’ was an anathema, where to be successful implied that you’d done something underhand (and woe betide if you are female) - just an opinion, not fact. Can’t wait until GIAWTM is back on stage. 🙌🏻

The hardest thing that I had to learn was to take a compliment, be proud of what I have achieved & be able to tell people what I've done. It started when I was 50 & now that I'm nearly 60, I think I'm there. Learn to toot your own horn & don't let anyone dull your shine. 🫂
