Disposable cups, plastic straws, plastic bags, and Styrofoam containers are harmful to the environment. Most of these items are used only once but take hundreds of years to decompose. They pollute oceans, rivers, and forests, and many animals mistake plastic for food, which can harm or kill them. Islam teaches Muslims to avoid waste and take care of Allah's creation. The Qur'an says, "Eat and drink, but do not waste. Indeed, He does not love the wasteful" (Qur'an 7:31). Disposable cups and other single-use plastics create unnecessary waste and pollute the environment. Muslims are encouraged to use resources responsibly, reduce waste whenever possible, and protect the Earth, which is a trust (amanah) from Allah. Choosing reusable items instead of disposable ones is one practical way to fulfill this responsibility.
