The beauty and draw of the sound of black gospel music is undeniable. You may already know this but there is a lot of neuroscience involved in why people are drawn to it, even after deconstructing. Not to minimize your memories or experiences with certain songs and rituals, it’s just very interesting to study how our brain connects to things. My best to you as you journey. 🙂

I have a lot of discrepancies with Christianity but I can’t find myself to let go for numerous reasons, but one being the way my ancestors leveraged it despite it being a weapon against them. It’s used in hoodoo, changed the sound of music globally, gives comfort to this day, etc. I just learned to distance myself from the conventional ways of being Christian
