@msrealisttheillest: Maturing is realizing that diaspora wars are just different groups within the diaspora taking their personal experiences and turning them into generalizations about entire communities. It’s unnecessary and only creates more division. The people who fought, sacrificed, and paved the way for us to have better lives would be disappointed to see us tearing each other down instead of recognizing the strength we have when we stand together. #blackdiaspora #civilrights #blackpower #martinlutherking #malcolmx
The diaspora wars are totally perpetrated by the media. I wrote an essay on it

Do you truly believe Africans in Africa didn’t have hatred for each other in the 90, or is it only a diaspora war when black Americans are involved

The biggest problem now is generalization, because not every African is calling Black Americans “Akata” or “not knowing their origins” and not every Black American/AA is calling Africans “booty scratchers” or “raggedy” the day our people will heal because at the end of the day, we’re still the same race

My parents worked at Howard University for decades. The Black intelligentsia there was from every part of the diaspora. It added to richness of thought coming out of that place. Just one example of an AA institution that connects to the diaspora.
